The Snowstorm Lesson for Your Business Automations

When was the last time you tested your automations? Like Atlanta’s snowstorm alerts, infrequent automations can fail if left unchecked. Here’s why periodic validation is crucial.

It’s 8 a.m. and I hear kids in the neighborhood screaming.

No, not a real-life horror movie.

It’s Atlanta and there’s an inch of snow on the ground, so school is cancelled.

My office is a winter wonderland.

(I work outside all the time — even in the winter with a heater).

I was woken up this morning by a Snow Storm Warning alert . . .

And it made me realize . . . the only time that happens is when there’s a snowstorm.

Whatever automation they have for sending snow storm alerts in Atlanta happens only . . . 3-5 days a year.

That means — they have 360 days to make sure they work.

When we setup automations for our business, we typically tend to “set it and forget it.”

And then we need it . . . and it doesn’t work. It throws an error.

Why did it break?

So my question for you . . . are YOUR snow storm alerts ready and tested?
