The Secret to Smarter AI Assistants? Lookup Tables in Coda

AI assistants are fancy databases, and Coda makes managing them easy. See how Calvin AI uses lookup tables to automate tasks across ClickUp, Slack, and Google Calendar.

One of the most important elements in any database is lookup tables.

Let’s face it—AI assistants are basically “fancy databases.”

This is why I LOVE Coda for this use case.

Our Calvin AI assistant is connected to ClickUp, Slack, Coda and Google Calendar—for our entire team.

So when I ask about someone’s tasks or calendar or want to send a Slack message . . . I need their ID.

ENTER CODA.

This is our Calvin AI User table.

It has everyone’s IDs, email, calendar—even their time zone!

We use Slack statuses to let other team members know what we’re doing.

I can simply ask “What is Lexi’s status?”

Calvin AI will AUTOMATICALLY pull the data from Coda, lookup her ID and get her Slack status.

I even get a bonus picture if I forget what she looks like!

AND . . . the Users table is easily managed in Coda.

You don’t have to be a developer — super easy to add more columns, user details, etc.

Next week I’m going to be showing you how you can start building your own AI Assistant for Coda (and Notion).

If you haven’t started down this road yet, this FREE webinar will give you a good understanding of how the pieces tie together!
