Coda’s Secret Weapon for AI: Seasoned Data
AI works best with context, and Coda lets you add that context to your data. Learn how I use 'seasoned data' to make our Calvin AI smarter.


My wife LOVES paper.
Post-it notes, paper calendars, notebooks and colored pens.
And I’m cool with that.
In the agile world, there’s a saying: “People over tools.”
It’s more important that people use what works FOR THEM.
The goal is to be productive, not use a specific tool.
One of the main reasons many of us love Coda is because it gives the freedom to build how we want.
When I first started using Coda, one of the most stunning features to me was the ability to ADD columns to sync tables.
In Google Calendar, I can’t “add” new columns.
I can add fancy stuff to the description, but I can’t add a new checkbox.
But when I use the Google Calendar pack, I CAN.
I can add an “Is Client Meeting?” checkbox or a “Teams Required to Attend” drop-down to each calendar event.
I call this “seasoning the data.”
We don’t have to be content with just using what Google Calendar gives us — we can season it with any “column spices” we want.
This is why it’s such a powerful tool for AI.
We can sync data from so many of our other tools and then season the data with additional context and tie disparate tables together across our different tools.
And when our AI Assistant queries our Coda tables, it has a much richer data mine that just going straight to say, Google Calendar or Slack.
